First and foremost, we want to say thank you for considering an investment in our mission to train the next generation of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and health care professionals. Our curriculum is “living,” meaning it constantly evolves based on advances in biomedical knowledge, and it reflects the ever-changing, increasingly data-driven medical profession and the growing body of scholarly analysis of medical education itself.
At UAMS, we perceive medicine as a team sport. Interdisciplinary and inter-professional experiences are the norm, both in simulated patient settings and in actual clinical sites throughout our Medical Center and statewide health clinic affiliates. Our students must be prepared for a future in which providing the best in patient care equates to collaboration with the entire health care team.
Over 1,000 graduates in 2016 will provide exceptional patient-centered care for Arkansans and patients around the world. By providing scholarships to students in our colleges of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and health professions, you will help our students the people of Arkansas.

Jeanne and Bob Fitzgerald
On behalf of the UAMS Board of Visitors Scholarship Committee, my husband and I would like to thank you for generously supporting students in the College of Medicine. Having watched our son and his wife both deal with their financial burdens during medical school, the scholarship efforts are close to our hearts. Without the very generous support from people like you, UAMS would not be able to attract the highest quality students of today, our physicians of tomorrow.
Ellis McVoy speaks at 2015 Scholarship Reception
"These scholarships helped remove a heavy financial burden and made coping with life as a working student easier," said Ellis McVoy, student in the Medical Laboratory Sciences program and recipient of two scholarships. McVoy graduated in December with a job already lined-up in the UAMS Blood Bank. He said the scholarships were critical to helping him finish his education.
“In my opinion, a hospital is not a hospital without nurses. I am so impressed by what the school has done over the years and by its leadership. I know it will continue to do great things.” Jane Wilson is the first life member of the College of Nursing Advisory Board. A well-known community leader and philanthropist, Wilson is also a life member of the UAMS Foundation Fund Board, and a member of the Harvey & Bernice Jones Eye Institute Advisory Board. Wilson established the Jane and Bob Wilson Nursing Endowed Scholarship and the Jane McGehee Wilson D.N.P. Scholarship, both in the College of Nursing.
