The Division of Institutional Advancement is an integrated function of donor and alumni relations and fundraising that seeks to secure resources and support for the UAMS Foundation Fund for the benefit of UAMS.
The primary mission of Institutional Advancement is to secure gifts and grants that support the fourfold mission of UAMS – to teach, to search, to serve, and to heal.
Our mission is accomplished through a comprehensive program directed at primary constituencies: individuals, foundations, corporations and alumni. Institutional Advancement supports fundraising efforts for all units of UAMS, including its colleges, institutes, centers of excellence, and departments.
Building strong relationships between friends of UAMS and our programs is a key to institutional advancement. Donor Development Programs engage and involve friends in meaningful relationship with UAMS through the Chancellor’s Circle, the Society of Double Helix, the Legacy Society, and other special recognition events and projects throughout the year.
The Division of Institutional Advancement is also responsible for record keeping - processing gift transactions and managing more than 1,300 foundation accounts.
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences depends heavily on the financial support of others to advance and pursue excellence in medical education, treatment and research.
While the State of Arkansas provides UAMS a small portion of its annual funding, UAMS encourages others interested in quality medical care for the state to join in providing financial support to UAMS.
Private gifts enable UAMS to assist worthy but financially struggling students in continuing their education, attract and retain outstanding faculty and staff, endow academic and medical programming and research, and take advantage of other important opportunities. All areas of the University benefit from private gifts.
Voluntary support plays an increasingly vital role in our growth and progress. The Division of Institutional Advancement at UAMS, through well defined fundraising programs, strives to attract private donations and forge strong relationships with the community served by the University.
The Division is a part of the University of Arkansas (“UA”) Foundation serving the interests of the Medical Sciences campus. The UA Foundation office handles all charitable gifts to university accounts. A gift is defined as a contribution that is bestowed voluntarily without expectation of any tangible compensation. It is usually in the form of cash, securities, real property, gifts-in-kind, or other forms of gifts.
