Supporting students who have a passion for medicine is one of our most important endeavors. Learn more.
Our sucessful and popular mentoring program, Day With A Doctor, matches a freshman medical student with a practicing physician for a day of experience in the specialty of the student's choice. The students love this program as it provides the lift they need to get through that tough second semester of their freshman year.
Student Ambassador Program
Each year over 60 students volunteer as Student Ambassadors for the Alumni Association. Their hours are valuable in assisting with campus tours, alumni weekend, events and other activities we undertake. In fact, they are the phonathon recruiters and are responsible for raising an average of $80,000 each year for student scholarships. Click here for more information.
Day with a Doctor
"The Day with a Doctor program was a truly valuable experience. It was way more fun than any lecture, and really gave me a boost of enthusiasm to finish the year strong."
~Adrienne Hatchett, UAMS-COM '16
Gone are the days where students eat three square meals a day with no snacks in between. Every fall and spring, the Alumni Association surprises the freshman and sophomore classes with fun-filled treat bags outside their classrooms. Not only do the students greatly enjoy the surprise, but we appreciate the opportunity to visit with the students and treat them at the same time.
During Senior Week just prior to graduation, the Medical Alumni Association presents graduating senior medical students with a commemorative gift as a memento of their medical school years. For the past three years, the gift has been a black leather padfolio with their class year embossed in silver on the front.
Presented to the graduating medical student chosen by vote of the class, this award is presented at graduation to a senior who best fulfills the ideals of humanitarian public service as demonstrated by superior awareness of and achievement in civic and community programs.
